Management and maintenance of the numerical model tools for the Flemish tidal waters and (coastal) ports – Waterbouwkundig Laboratorium

Narrative :

The purpose of this assignment is to provide technical-scientific assistance for the systematic evaluation and improvement of the numerical model instrumentation used for the simulation of hydrodynamics in the Flemish tidal waters and coastal harbors.

Our touch :

The assignment aims at the project-based realisation of, among others, the following products:

  • Research: validation exercise of a new model for water movement in the coastal zone
  • Toolbox development: development of the VIMM toolbox for model validation
  • Numerical modelling: calibration of Scaldis 2020, the 3D reference model for water movement in the Scheldt
  • System view: creation of a D-Hydro schematic of the Scheldt estuary
  • Dredging strategy: support of calculations related to “Flexible Storten”
