Narrative :
This project is carried out jointly with GRID and ENGIGEO, on behalf of SGTM Société Générale des Travaux du Maroc. In addition, the LNEC laboratory supports us in the physical and numerical model tests.
The main goal is to perform the bridge design from a hydraulic point-of-view, to support the structural detailed design.
Our touch :
Our assignment consists of carrying out, among others, the following activities:
- Expert assessment: analysis of wave conditions and scour depths using state-of-the-art methodologies
- Numerical modelling: wave propagation towards the study site with a phase-averaged model, development, and calibration of a hybrid methodology to calculate both impulsive and non-impulsive wave-induced forces on bridge piers with a phase-resolving model and assessment of scour depths with a morphological model
- Engineering design: wave-induced forces, scour depths and hydraulic stability of embankment protection
Coordination & management: supervision of physical model experiments conducted by LNEC
